Gruesome Deaths II

So this may not be quite as bad as the one I posted yesterday, but still? Yeesh. Hopefully it was at least quick and painless. It was probably far worse for the person stuck in the elevator for twenty minutes afterwards. If anything would give you PTSD, this would be it.

You can't make this stuff up

On the list of Most Horribly Gruesome Ways To Die, this ranks right up near the top. Warning: there aren't any pictures, but the descriptions certainly made me squirm.

New link

Even though I don't post much political content, I do like to read it, and I especially like to read good political satire, such as that found at Fanatical Apathy.

Priorities, Priorities

Sigh. I've been a little negligent in updating this thing, haven't I? I'd like to say I haven't had any time, and that's sort of true, but it's also kind of a lame excuse. Mostly, I've been suffering from mental exhaustion, and there's nothing better than that to turn off any creative impulses that might arise. So I apologize if you've been checking this site regularly, only to find that I never update it anymore.

I do intend to try to update it more often than a few times a month. Hell, the original reason I started the blog in the first place was for myself, to get myself to write something, even if it was just inane blathering. So if I neglect it, the first person I'm shortchanging is myself.

So do keep checking back periodically - hopefully there will occasionally be some new content here.

How cool is this?

People are turning abandoned missile silos into houses. It just sounds so cool. And 15,000 square feet for $150,000? Even with renovation costs at double that, it's still practically nothing, at least compared to the obscene cost of real estate where I live.

I love weird stuff like this. I once saw a story about someone who bought an old plane, gutted the inside, and turned it into a house. Of course, it probably looked a little strange to have a plane parked there by the side of the road, unlike a silo, which presumably you don't see much of at all, seeing as it's underground. I do wonder whether the lack of windows might be a problem, but it does look like there's natural light in the picture, so maybe it comes in from above.
